Derick and I tag-teamed with Courtney’s active AAU
basketball schedule. Courtney was currently playing with
three different teams, and this was actually my
husband’s weekend to travel. But with his impending tour
back to the Middle East in early July, our plans
changed. This is how we were able to ensure that our two
children had balanced lives, with a father being active
duty military, and me attending nursing school for years
on end. |

It has always been of the utmost importance that
Courtney knew that we were her biggest & most loyal
fans; and that when she looked up in those stands, she
saw our faces cheering her on. And like with sporting
events, when it came to church, we didn’t send her…we
took her! One of us was always present: from a little
girl, until God called my precious angel home. |

She was active in the praise dance ministries of
Interdenomination of Faith, Leesville La.; Christian
House of Prayer, Copperas Cove, Tx.; and Hope Aglow
Empowerment Center, Woodbridge, Va. She had recently
become a member of New Birth South Metropolitan Church,
Morrow Ga. |
